Dear Writer: Hurt/Comfort Exchange 2019
Mar. 26th, 2019 09:52 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
General DNWs: rape/dub-con between requested characters, porn/smut without plot, character death, character bashing, suicide, mental health issues without a hopeful ending, non-canon amnesia, incest, infidelity, spanking, abuse, unhealthy relationships, major character who is sexist/racist/homophobic/transphobic/aphobic/etc., undead, disrespect of ANY belief/spirituality/religion, character/reader pairings
General Likes: strong loyalty, trust, friendship, characters being protective of other characters, platonic love, platonic touching, hurt/comfort with an emphasis on the comfort, found family, characters being nerds, damaging thoughts proven wrong, vulnerability, asexual characters, characters being BAMF, witty banter, whump, happy or hopeful endings
Hurt Likes: Touch-starved, being strong for too long and breaking, low self-esteem, sleep deprivation,
Really bad hurt likes: human experimentation, past torture/abuse, mental health problems, misplaced trust, PTSD, past revealed, self harm (only if it's realistic and not glorified)
Trope Likes: Soulmates/soulmarks, A/B/O (especially non-sexual), guide/sentinal, found family, canon-divergence, de-aging/age regression, fix-it, hurt/comfort (obviously), past revealed, secret identity revealed, character doesn't know how to be loved so other character(s) set out to fix that
With any of these prompts, genre is not really a big issue. I'm not huge into horror or paranormal, but anything else is free game. I'd prefer a hopeful, if not happy, ending, but I'm not a picky reader. I love whatever, whether I laughed, melted, or bawled. Some of the prompt are longer than others, but don't take that as a sign of which ones I want more. Feel free to ignore the extra prompts I give too if you have something else you want to write. Have fun!
Fandom-specific Prompts:
MCU:
Specific DNWs: Villanizing Loki or Bucky, References to Infinity War unless it's a fix-it,
Specific Likes: Enemies-friends(-lovers),
Hurt Loki - I love Loki, but I might love Loki whump even more. Some ideas to get you started might be jotunn!Loki and the emotional hurt that comes with that, post-Thanos!Loki at any point (I'm a believer in that New York wasn't all Loki's fault, that he was forced into it with either torture and/or brainwashing, but you could also play it with a fix-it of Infinity War), general angst of not fitting in, being left behind by Thor, etc. You can make Loki a "bad boy," especially since that's how he sees himself, but don't make him evil. You could also give Loki a twisted sense of protection ("no one hurts them but me" sort of thing) that eventually turns into him practically being one of the good guys. I'm also a fan of stories where Loki is put under the custody of the Avengers by Odin as punishment, and it turns out to be a good thing. Some of my favorite people for Loki to interact with are Tony Stark, Bucky Barnes, Thor, and Peter Parker.
Hurt Thor - Since we're on a roll with Loki, let's start with that. I love Thor having regrets about Loki. Maybe he feels guilty about how he's treated Loki in the past, or he feels responsible for Loki's actions. However, if you're not here for the Loki feels, fear not! I love Thor even without Loki. I'm mostly here for the emotional h/c for Thor, though. Lastly, you could write about cultural differences creating a barrier between Thor and the other Avengers? Just a thought. Some of my favorite people to see Thor interact with are Loki, Rocket, Bruce, and Tony.
Hurt Bucky - Bucky has so many options for hurt that I hardly know where to start. Some of my favorite tropes with Bucky: doesn't know how to be loved, thinks of himself as evil and is surprised when others don't see him the same way, learning to forgive himself and accept the forgiveness of others, etc. I'm fine with either physical or emotional hurts. Some of my favorite people for Bucky to interact with are Steve, Loki, Tony, Peter Parker, Shuri, and Thor.
Hurt Tony (and Steve) - I threw these two together since I requested them together, and because I wasn't sure I could write a whole prompt for both of them. Just a heads up, I love both of them, but if I had to choose, I would choose Tony over Steve, but that's mainly because of Civil War. Feel free to ignore Civil War all together, either by setting your story prior to it or making use of canon divergence AUs. If you do want to include Civil War in your story, please at least include a throw-away comment about how they had to work to get their relationship back to where it was before.
Star Trek: AOS:
I love anything to do with Kirk and/or Spock and/or McCoy. Period. Include one or more of them and I'll love it.
Hurt Jim - There are several things I know about Jim Kirk: his life is the best case for Murphy's Law (anything that can go wrong, will go wrong), this means his childhood was horrible (family - left or dead, Frank - abusive, Tarsus IV - happened), but he is secretly a genius (Starfleet thinks they know, but they've only scratched the surface), and he never gives up. Obviously, there are lots of options for physical hurts, but you could also drag up any possible past traumas. They don't even have to be obvious; for example, you could have him have issues with food or self-esteem issues, but he keeps it under wraps well. I'm okay with rape/non-con as part of his past, but I don't want any between any of the main crew.
Hurt Spock - Spock has a lot of internal conflict you could draw on. He struggles to feel like he fits in anywhere. He was unable to save his mother, and his relationship with his father is rocky. He was bullied as a child, his planet and people were destroyed, the list goes on. Another thing I love is Vulcans with anxiety and/or depression, largely because they aren't logical in any sense which would snowball them in a Vulcan's mind, making them worse and worse. So, feel free to give Spock self-esteem issues or panic attacks or whatever else you want.
Hurt McCoy - Again, self-esteem issues are more than welcome. They could be about not being a good dad, or holding Jim back, or being replaced as Jim's best friend/boyfriend. Physical hurts are also good. Something medical happens - to him or someone else - that he can't fix. Misunderstandings.
Hurt Gaila - She has a lot of past trauma you could pull from, but feel free to add to canon where you want to.
Hurt Any - Overworking to the point of collapse. Psychic attack. Soulmate AU (read the tags for suggestions). Forced marriage (loving the other but thinking they are only doing things out of obligation, feeling like a burden to the other, etc.).
Into the Spider-verse:
Specific DNWs: Any sexual or romantic content. At all. This includes kissing, romantic feelings, UST, etc. The only exception for this is Olivia/May.
Hurt Miles or Hurt Peter B Parker or Hurt Gwen or Hurt May or Hurt Jefferson - I'm okay with almost any kind of hurt for these guys; physical hurts, emotional hurts, imagined hurts, inconsequential hurts, lingering hurts, hurts caused by multiple/hidden identities, etc. I'm really open to anything for these. Read the tags and my trope likes, and, if you still have any questions, let me know through the mod.
Original Work:
For all of these I want the story to end with a positive relationship between the requested characters. I don't care too much how you get there, as long as that's the result. I'm going to let the relationships and tags themselves be the prompts for this section.
Immortal Demon Lord/His Devoted Young Servant (hurt Servant)
Sex slave/Owner who bought them to save them (hurt slave)
Sex slave/Owner who bought them to save them (hurt owner)
Dragon & Knight (Hurt Knight)
Dragon & Knight (Hurt Dragon)
Monster/Abused Kid who Summoned it for Revenge and Protection (hurt kid)
Rich Male Aristocrat/Lower Class Husband Forced into Marrying Him (hurt husband)
Rich Male Aristocrat/Lower Class Husband Forced into Marrying Him (hurt aristocrat)
Rich Male Aristocrat/Lower Class Husband Forced into Marrying Him (both hurt)
Venom (movie 2018):
Specific DNWs: Hate-filled Venom or Eddie
Hurt Eddie and/or Venom - Some ideas: Drake does some experiments on Eddie during his captivity. Venom thinks the only thing he's good for is destroying/hurting things/people. Miscommunication between them caused by different cultures (thinking their love is unrequited, trying to court in ways the other doesn't understand, doing something to cause the other to think they aren't wanted, etc.). Of course, feel free to include Dan and Anne in any way you so desire. For more ideas, look at the tags.
Rise of the Guardians:
At second glance, I requested a lot of A/B/O and mpreg for these guys. Do NOT feel obligated to write something along those lines if it makes you uncomfortable. To try and compensate, I'll try to keep most of my prompts here free of those themes. If you do want to write for one of those prompts, I'll include a little bit about that at the bottom of this section.
Hurt Jack - Jack is one I love to see hurting, but only if there's comfort on the other side. That being said, feel free to delve into the darker aspects of hurt if you are so inclined. Being alone for 300 years leaves a lot of scars that I think the movie only scratched the surface of. You could look into that, or you could utilize it as a weakness in current Jack to set him up for hurt. Maybe he's too trusting. Maybe he can't trust when he needs to. Maybe he has habits that he can't break (eg. self harm?). Maybe he thinks the guardian's are just waiting for him to mess up so they can kick him out again. This is one of the only one's where I'm okay with the requested partner being the aggressor. Bunny can hurt Jack, but only if it gets fixed by the end of the story. But there are a lot of other options for people to hurt Jack, including Jack himself, if you don't want to use Bunny.
Hurt Bunny - My feeling on hurt Bunny are similar to my feelings on hurt Thor. Let me explain. I'm mostly here for the emotional hurts as far as Bunny is concerned. That doesn't mean I don't want you to physically hurt Bunny because that's fine too, but I would love if that physical hurt was tied to some emotional hurt as well. Some ideas for things that could hurt Bunny: his past/being the last of his kind, how he treated Jack before he became a guardian, understanding the feeling of not being believed in.
A/B/O and mpreg - Either or both could be the hurtee here. I'm fine with either being the one who gets preggers if you go that route. I typically think of Jack as the omega and Bunny as the Alpha in A/B/O stories, but would not be opposed to seeing those flipped or subverted. This is also the exception to my first DNW; there can be dub-con between them, as long as neither of them is truly "at fault." For example, someone/something could force them to have sex, or Jack could come to the warren while Bunny is in heat/rut, etc. Ideally, both Jack and Bunny like each other and would have consented if the situation was different. On a happier note, mpreg could be the solution to some of the hurts mentioned above. Jack could get a family/people who aren't going to leave or forget him, and Bunny would no longer be the only Pooka.
